Three ways to work together
Coaching, mentoring, and consulting are different relationships, each suited to different situations. This page explains what each looks like and when it tends to be the right fit.
01, Coaching
Executive coaching
A structured coaching relationship for senior leaders who want to sharpen how they think, relate, and lead.
Coaching is built around the Relational Influence Framework and focuses on three areas: understanding who you are as a leader, how you lead through relationships, and the impact you want to have. The work is grounded in your real situations, the decisions you are weighing, and the relationships you are trying to navigate.
Typical engagements run for six to twelve sessions, usually every three to four weeks, in person in Cheshire or online.
Often works well for
- Senior leaders and executives navigating complexity or change
- Leaders whose impact depends on influencing without authority
- Directors preparing for a significant step up or transition
- Experienced leaders wanting to reconnect with purpose and legacy
02, Mentoring
Mentoring
A more directive relationship than coaching, drawing on direct experience as a senior leader.
Where coaching creates space for you to think, mentoring adds specific knowledge, judgement, and perspective when you need it. The balance shifts depending on the situation. Sometimes you need space to work something out for yourself, sometimes you need someone who has been through it to tell you what they learned.
Often works well for
- Newly appointed leaders in healthcare and the public sector
- Clinical or operational professionals moving into executive roles
- Leaders running their first major commissioning or transformation programme
- Emerging leaders who want practical guidance alongside reflective space
Sessions are practical and targeted. You bring the live challenge, I bring a pattern library of what has and has not worked in similar environments.
03, Consulting
Leadership consulting
Targeted support for organisations navigating change, grounded in extensive senior leadership experience in the NHS and the private sector.
Common engagements include:
- Leadership team development and executive team effectiveness
- Stakeholder strategy for complex change and transformation programmes
- Service redesign and commissioning support, with particular depth in healthcare
- Governance and board-level advisory
- Interim senior leadership during periods of transition
Every engagement is scoped around outcomes. If you are weighing whether consulting, coaching, or mentoring is the right fit for your situation, the first conversation is free.
Not sure which fits?
A short conversation is the easiest way to work out whether coaching, mentoring, or consulting is the right fit for your situation.
